CFW21 Stands for Curtsy Fashion Week 2021

It’s Fashion Week season! Whether you’re tuning in virtually or packing your outfits literally as you’re reading this (hi Carson bb! 💖), here are some trends we are SO excited for. And since we’re on the cusp of Fall 🍂 but have yet to let go of Summer 🌻, here are 2 ways to style these up & coming trends…

💥 MAXIMALISM | Think prints, bright colors, bold patterns, and loud logos or text. This was a pretty easy trend to incorporate into your wardrobe this summer with bright accessories but you can continue to sprinkle this into your fall wardrobe. We LOVE a statement coat or a brightly colored tailored set. Also, be on the lookout for thicker material trousers (sidenote: wide leg pants currently 15% off this week on Curtsy!), lugg sole boots, and chunky loafers. Headbands (yes, that’s right, a la Blair Waldorf) are even making a comeback!

🧶 TEXTURE | Okay fine, this isn’t a “trend” per se but you know crochet, faux fur, and playing with mixed materials? Well if you thought Summer was fun, you will LOVE all the opportunity Fall will bring with faux fur, jacquard, 3D elements like pearls, gems, and funky metallics.

🤠 WESTERN | This one is more obvious but sometimes you forget there are hints of influence from Western “cowboy” styles like anything leather (especially blazers, oversized coats, and trousers), the ever-so-persistent cowboy boots, fun with fringe, and of course… flares.

🧳 See what Carson is packing for her NYFW trip!

5 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Environmental Impact ♻️

Meet our Curtsy Stylists: Rachel, Ally, Grace, & Aaliyah
Meet our Curtsy Stylists: Rachel, Ally, Grace, & Aaliyah

Need some inspo on how to help reduce your carbon footprint and environmental impact? Read on!

  1. Shop & sell responsibly
    • 🛍️ Buy from:
      • Curtsy, duh — but really, the best way to keep up with fashion trends sustainably is to buy secondhand.
      • Facebook Marketplace — there are some GREAT finds out there for furniture. West Elm, Pottery Barn, vintage. Fun fact: our office furniture is all thrifted off of FB Marketplace thanks to our very own Clags!
      • Remake — a Curtsy partner, Remake has a brand directory where they rate brands you already know & love based on factors including: Human Rights, Climate, Water, and Waste. Discover new brands on there & shop them on Curtsy
    • ♻️ Give items a second, third, fourth, etc. life
      • Don’t waste any of your precious time in person at the thrift store. And do you really know where items you donate end up in? The majority end up in landfills. Instead, sell your items on a resale platform like Curtsy so you know they’re not going to end up in a landfill after you’re done with them.
  2. Rethink your beauty & kitchen tools
    • 💋 Beauty — Replace your disposable cotton swabs & pads with something reusable! I personally used to use those disposable make up wipes everyday but have since replaced them with reusable pads & a MakeUp Eraser
    • 🧋 Eat/drink — Try replacing your sandwich bags & saran wrap with beeswax wraps & silicone sandwich bags.Do you still drink your coffee & tea out of paper cups? Do you still buy plastic water bottles? Try reusable tumblers and mugs like these instead. There are SO many options out there.
  3. Watch these documentaries
    • 👗 The True Cost — an eyeopening deep dive into the fast fashion industry
    • 🌊 Seaspiracy — how our diets affect our ocean friends
  4. 🌎 David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet — our impact on nature

  5. Commute consciously — now there are plenty of ways to get around: carpool with friends, bike, scooter/moped, take public transportation, or get some fresh air and walk. 🚲🛴🛵

  6. Follow these sustainable influencers for more inspo:

Curtsy makes it so easy to meet other sellers and buyers by allowing an Instagram tab on your profile. Curtsy also has a super fun following on their Instagram, so you can connect with other girls who have similar styles as you, which also simplifies the buying/selling process!
🔥 Pro tips: I’ve had really great success selling purses I no longer wear, as well as my old prom dresses!

🔥 Pro tips: I’ve sold a ton of Urban Outfitters and Free People, which I’ve been able to take my earnings and “trade” them in for new pieces for myself! My style is ever evolving, so it’s refreshing to see my old pieces being sold to a new home in exchange for new pieces!

Jensen Hodecker

💸 My Curtsy earnings: roughly $1,100
💖 What I love about Curtsy: how user friendly it is. It is laid out in the best way possible to maximize both selling and buying. Even when I did have questions at first when I started out Curtsy support was always there to help
🔥 Pro tips: Popular brands such as Zara, Princess Polly, Urban Outfitters, etc.

PS. I was obsessed with this Sunday Muse set I got off Curtsy! I even wore it to my 21st birthday trip to Nashville.

Carley Mittag
Carley Mittag

💸 My Curtsy earnings: about $1,300
💖 What I love about Curtsy: First off, it’s so easy to do. I love taking pictures of my items and I like to have a variety of pictures. I think about what picture I would want to see if I was buying it. I also love that it suggests a price based on the item. I love the Curtsy community, all the girls on their are so nice and helpful!!
🔥 Pro tips: I have sold a lot of shorts, shirts, bikinis, and shoes!

We’ll be adding more Curtsy sellers throughout this week & beyond. 😻
