The wait is over! Everyone can now bid on “lots” of 3+ highly discounted items from the same seller.
Say Hello to Curtsy Clear Outs: The Ultimate Shopping Hack!
We’re thrilled to announce that everyone can now shop Curtsy Clear Outs! You can now shop bulk lots of 3+ clothing items at a discount, and pay only one shipping price. That’s right, it’s your time to score big on fashion deals and upgrade your thrifting game with ease!
Compared with normal, single item listings that are available on the app until they sell, Clear Outs sell via auction over 7 days. Once the auction ends, the seller will ship the entire Clear Out in one shipment to the buyer with the winning bid.
How does bidding work?
To get started, simply tap ‘Place Bid’ on the Clear Out you’re interested in. From there, you’ll be able to place a single bid or choose the Autobid option. With Autobid, you choose your maximum bid and we’ll bid for you in $1 increments up to your max to help you win the auction.
Don’t want to wait until the end of the auction? Tap “Buy It Now” to name your price & send an offer to the seller. Sellers have 48 hours to respond to your binding offer. If they accept, you win the lot!
Not ready to bid, but want to stay updated on the hype? Tap “Add To Watchlist” to be notified of new bids and when the auction is an hour from ending.
We know you’ll love the convenience and affordability that Curtsy Clear Out brings, and we’re excited for you to experience it. If you’d like more info, check out our FAQ page or send us a message in the app.
We’re always listening to your feedback and working to create features that you’ll love. We’d love to hear from you on how we can continue to improve ([email protected]). Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
Clear Out is a convenient way to sell more than 3 items quickly. You only make one listing for all your items that sell via auction to members of our Wholesale program.
For when you have little time, but a lot to sell
Selling clothes online should be simple. After months of research, we learned that the number one reason people don’t sell their clothes is because it takes too much time. Especially when they have a lot to sell. That’s why we’re launching Clear Out, a simpler way to sell.
While listing one item at a time is still the best way to maximize your earnings on each item, Clear Out is the best way to sell a lot of clothes, with a fraction of the work.
How Does Clear Out Work?
To get started just tap ‘sell’ at the bottom of your app and select the new Clear Out option.
Compared with normal, single item listings that are live on the app until they sell, Clear Out listings have 3 or more items and sell via auction over 7 days to members of our Wholesale Program.
At the end of the week, you’ll ship out all your items in one bag to the highest bidder. We’ll even mail you the bag and the prepaid shipping label to use. It’s that simple.
We’re so excited to share this feature with you. If you’d like more info, watch our video or send us a message in the app. If you’re interested in learning more the Wholesale program, send us a message.
We know Clear Out may not be perfect from day one, so we’d love to hear from you on how we can continue to improve it ([email protected]).
At Curtsy, we’ve re-imagined how you shop for and sell your clothes. We’re working everyday to use our platform to keep fashion out of landfills and give apparel a second life. We’re making it easy for you to buy and sell your clothes, shoes, and accessories online and through our app.
At Curtsy we value integrity, boldness, and community. We’re dreamers, thinkers, doers, and achievers. We meld old-school tradition with new-school disruption. We want to be THE go-to for sustainable fashion, and it takes bold action, challenging the status quo, and delivering a wow customer experience.
So far we’ve kept over two million items out of landfills and helped our community earn over $30M through giving their clothes a second life. Together we work hard, we dream big, and we look great doing it.
We started Curtsy in the Tri Delt house Ole Miss. Today we’re a small but mighty team with an office in downtown San Francisco. We’re still a small startup and are looking for people just as fun and lively to join the team! Read on for more deets! 👇🏼

When we started Curtsy *cue the nostalgia* we set out to build the most personalized and easy to use clothing resale app. We’re constantly asking ourselves how we can “level up” and provide an even better experience for our customers. Today I’m excited to announce the biggest change we’ve made since our launch — in other words, a glow up ✨
It’s still the same Curtsy you know and love, but more aligned with our values and more personalized to your unique style. We’re so grateful to the members of our community that participated in this process. We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of our customers.
To express our gratitude, use code “NEWNEW” for 15% off all items in the app between now and the end of the day on Wednesday, November 3. We rarely do sales, so don’t miss out on the fun 🙂
Sincerely, David Curtsy CEO & co-founder
Now without further ado… introducing our new look 👀
✨Fresh look, same spirit✨
POV: When Curtsy takes thrifting to the next level
Our early brand was created by a team of four working on a dress rental app. Since 2016, we’ve grown along with our users. We continue to welcome more people, clothing sizes, and styles.
The new Curtsy brand expresses where we’ve been and where we’re headed. We envision Curtsy to be a truly inclusive thrifting experience focused on making fashion more sustainable, while keeping it simple and fun.
The new brand gives the app a fresh feel and makes it easier to find what you love. We’ve kept the original Curtsy spirit, but elevated the look to showcase a modern way to buy and sell fresh ‘fits online.
How personal is personal?
Using more advanced machine learning (aka we’ve gotten to know and like you a lot), Curtsy is even more personalizedto you. Your home feed now features items we think you’ll love based on your recent shopping and favorite brands.
The more you search and shop, the better Curtsy will get to know your style. Nothing creepy, just think of Curtsy as the Spotify of resale apps, serving you a fresh playlist of your favorite looks.
Where are my saved searches? 👀
Saved searches are now on the Search page. Just tap the “Search Curtsy” bar at the top of the screen and there they are, along with “Trending” and “Recent” searches.
Where are the Curated by Curtsy lists?
Lists now live under the Shop by Category page along with Weekly Sale”, “Popular”, and “Following”.
Need more help?
Check out the Help Center page where you can find the How Curtsy Works videos. Tap on “ME” and then “Help Center”.
Now, sit back and relax. It just got even easier to do what you love – shop sustainably, sell simply and get extra cash in your pocket.
Psst, we have a few more Curtsy upgrades up our sleeve. We’ll soon be releasing the highly-requested Android app.Join the waitlist to be first in line to download!
Greetings from Curtsy HQ! If you’re reading this, you already know what we are, but do you know who we are? We recently took a stab at answering this question. We thought about each Curtsy team member and the characteristics that make each person great. What the discussion sparked is this list of traits (some might even call them quirks) that summarize our values and inform everything from our interview questions to our customer service.
TL;DR: We’re a passionate team of optimists and strategic thinkers, with open minds and hearts, who don’t take ourselves too seriously.
Our Values
Persistence
High-level thinking
Going above and beyond
Optimism
Taking responsibility
Teamwork
Fun
Persistence
We bust through walls to achieve our goals (or find a way around the wall, make friends with the wall, or figure out why the wall doesn’t matter).
We solve issues as they arise and course correct when necessary, but we never give up or go home early.
We understand that setbacks are part of the learning process.
High-level thinking
We focus on getting it right (strategy) and getting it done (execution). Both are equally important.
We carve out time to research, think, ideate, and get aligned on the strategy before diving in. A few hours of strategic planning can save us weeks of wasted effort.
Along the way, we regularly zoom out to ensure that we’re still headed in the right direction.
Going above and beyond
Going the extra mile for customers is our normal route. We don’t tolerate mediocrity, and continually work to improve our customers’ experience.
We’re looking for “wow” reactions; delight is our goal. We consider a working app, with helpful and responsive customer service, the bare minimum.
We move quickly to squash issues and bugs that come up to minimize customer impact.
Optimism
We’re motivated by hope for a better future and our ability to bring it to life. The world around us was created by normal people just like us.
We try to look with clear eyes at the reasons why ideas will work rather than fail, taking care to avoid blind optimism. After information-seeking and discussion, we rely on our intuition to guide us.
We have a can-do attitude. If we don’t know something, we believe in our ability to figure it out.
We recognize that no person or company is perfect. To err is human, and companies are human endeavors. When we miss the mark, we will take full responsibility without making excuses.
We don’t blame others for our mistakes.
We’re all part owners in Curtsy, so we act according to its best interests.
We do what we say we’re going to do.
Teamwork
We put aside our egos in the service of the greater goal.
We avoid zero-sum thinking, and competitive or political behavior towards others on our team.
We’re motivated by helping others and see others’ success as our own success.
We’re focused on building strong relationships with others on the team, and tackle conflict head on rather than sweeping it under the rug.
We’re aware of the impact that our actions have on others.
We assume positive intent in others’ actions.
Fun
We spend most of our waking hours at work, so we try to make it fun and laugh a little.
We try not to take ourselves too seriously.
Success is a function of skill, effort, and luck. We bring our best selves to every task, but we don’t stress over what we can’t control.
Time is money, honey! Selling on Curtsy will make you money, and it’s easy as pie. Or cake.
Seriously, we’re the only app that sends you shipping supplies so you can skip the post office, and tells you exactly how to price your stuff. Posting takes 30 seconds.
“People aren’t going to buy my clothes.”
Not with that attitude! Our best-selling brands are those you’d find at the mall, or your fave online stores: Free People, Lululemon, Revolve, Nordstrom, etc.
If you bought it in the last few years from a recognizable brand, someone will buy it on Curtsy!
“I’m going to wear those clothes again.”
Girl you’re not fooling anyone! You know that dress you bought for freshman year HOCO or that random bach party isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
You might as well make some money and give those items a second life.
“I don’t have enough followers.”
Phew! We’re like the only app where you don’t have to be an influencer these days. We use machine-learning and AI to show relevant clothes to shoppers.
All you do is post, and then your items sell. Like magic.
“I’ll sell when I … (move, graduate, etc.)”
Ahem, Marie Kondo does NOT approve. There’s a new way of living and it’s called: one in, one out! Every time you buy a new outfit, post an old one on Curtsy.
You’ll have less stress, more space, and more money to spend on things that make you happy.
Today we’re nervous and excited to announce our biggest change yet.
Curtsy started as a way for women to rent clothes from each other. Next week, we’re switching to buy/sell, and ending support for renting.
Curtsy works best for special occasions like formals, but most people only have a few of those per year. This made it really hard to build a sustainable business.
Even though we’ve helped our community make $1M renting out their closets, as a company we still spend more money than we make.
If you’re one of the thousands of women that use Curtsy to rent and make money, we feel you. Taking out renting is bittersweet for us.
At the same time, we’re excited for this new chapter. Buy/sell has been our most requested feature since we started Curtsy.
We’re taking your favorite things about Curtsy and bringing them to buy/sell: Our curated shopping experience, ease of posting, high quality photos, and incredible customer support.
You’ll soon be able to use Curtsy every week rather than twice a year.
The new app will launch on Monday, July 2 and we can’t wait for you to try it.
If you previously had items listed for rent, you’ll be able to list them for sale with one tap. All of your messages and past orders will still be in the app, as well as any earnings from past rentals.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
