Meet Katie.
As a kid, Katie Reese has always been into fashion. She used to hoard Teen Vogue magazines and (secretly) still has them stashed in her closet back home in Memphis, TN. In her spare time at the University of Alabama, Katie enjoys beading for her business, Reese Jewelry.
At a young age, my parents held their breath as I altered all of my dolls’ clothes, drew on my school uniforms, and switched from creative hobby to creative hobby.
Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in everything from jewelry making to horses and photography to flowers. I eventually came back to photography, which ultimately led me back to jewelry making.
I’ve so many people in my life that are pushing me to be the best I can be, and I’m unwaveringly thankful for them. My family, especially my mother, has been my biggest inspiration. They’ve indulged in all of my obsessions and have given me the world so that I may pursue every single hobby.
Q: What are some of your favorite pieces to make and wear?
I love to make what I call “outfit completers,” the type of necklaces that if you weren’t wearing them, your outfit wouldn’t be complete. I believe jewelry is the glue that holds every outfit together and without it, well, your outfit just wouldn’t be the same.
Even simple jewelry can make a huge difference in your outfit. Fashion is an adjustment of the eye. Jewelry is just needed. It’s simple, yet magical.
Q: How would you describe your style?
It definitely depends on which side of the bed I woke up on, the weather, my favorite color for that specific day, etc. I always look at my closet and just see the possibilities. It differs from day to day.
Q: Lastly, what are three pieces you cannot live without?
A great pair of sunglasses, my Susan Alexandra Goodnight Moon Collar necklace, and my dainty RJC rosary choker necklace.
