Meet Ashleigh.

Founder, Creative Director, Fashion Director, and Website Designer. Ashleigh Hill is our ultimate #GirlCrush. Although she’s from Huntsville, Alabama, she doesn’t claim the South. Her parents are from England, so she was exposed to a wide range of cultural experiences since a young age.  She launched StyleBone Designs this past November, and let us tell you— it’s only a matter of time before this rocket takes off.

StyleBone is a website dedicated to efficiently merging the worlds of fashion, art, and photography but full circling to be something greater, influencing in progressive thinking, morals, and ideals.  It is about making dreams for creatives’ realities.

Q: Ashleigh, how did you decide to create such a collaborative art and design business?

To be honest, the concept grows every collection with endless ideas. The great thing about StyleBone is that the possibilities are endless because there are no boundaries. If it can “slightly” be done, it’ll be done.

Q: I read how each month begins with a blank canvas. Where do you go to for inspiration before each project?

I look to the world and everything that is going on around me, happened before me, or can happen futuristically is my inspiration. I always have one rule: no thinking about the next collection until the current one is out, up, and running. It’s the hardest rule to follow!

The preparation before each month includes nights of no sleep, countless email, phone calls, and meetings.  Everyone I meet, I introduce to everyone else.  This way everyone who works on the current collection can possible create new projects with each other on their own.

For example, one model from the Egypt segment and our SHOP photographer, Sara Radin, collaborated the week after StyleBone’s shoot creating their own shoot for the models blog.  It can be viewed here.

Q: What have been some of your favorite StyleBone collections?

I love them all.  I will say they get better every time, obviously because I’m learning as well. So the answer to what is my favorite? All the future collections to come.

StyleBone continues to make my style more eccentric. After all, who want’s to be conventional? The more I search, the more amazing and unique pieces I find.

Q: Have you always been interested in fashion?

Always.  When I was little, I would cut up magazines and tape them all over my mirrors and bedroom.  If this wasn’t a sign, I don’t know what is.

Before college, my inspiration was Rachel Zoe. Now the list is endless. However, if I had to pin point my style, I would attempt to say it is a mixture of my two favorite designers, Saint Laurent and Chloe.

Q: What advice would you give to other girls who are wanting to pursue a career in fashion?

Just go for it! Sitting around will not get you anywhere. Just go, go, and GO!!
