Did you know that St. Jude Children\u2019s hospital was founded by a comedian?<\/p>\n

\"SJ-color-logo\"By the time he founded the hospital in 1962, Danny Thomas was one of the most well-known and successful entertainers in the world. But that wasn\u2019t always the case.<\/p>\n

As a young man living in Detroit, Thomas struggled for years to support his family through his work as a performer. According to the hospital history, a breakthrough moment in his life happened in a church before the patron saint of hopeless causes, St. Jude.<\/p>\n

\u201cShow me my way in life,\u201d he promised the Saint, \u201cand I will build you a shrine.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

It is a promise that he never forgot.<\/p>\n

54 years after its founding, a statue of St. Jude donated by Thomas stands at the front of the hospital, serving as a beacon of hope for thousands of families that receive care each year.<\/p>\n

That care, by the way, is free. No family pays for treatment at St. Jude. Caring for a sick child is a tremendous burden, and financial assistance is just one way the hospital positively impacts families.<\/p>\n

Greek organizations like the Tri Delta sorority have been long-time supporters of the hospital, and this week, Nimble joins them in their effort to raise money for the incredible hospital.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Between now and Wednesday, April 20, 50% of all Borrows on Nimble will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why? Because as Danny Thompson said, \u201cno child should die in the dawn of life.\u201d<\/p>\n
